A Way Through
This healing painting was created for someone on a very intentional and spiritual healing journey. He was a massage client for a few months, so I learned about his energy and his journey through our hands-on work first. Then, we decided a painting would be a beautiful way for him to capture this pivotal and transformational time in his life.
As I always do, we began with an intuitive session and he shared with me special objects and images that resonated with him to inspire my process. He showed me prior paintings of mine that resonated with him. I then took all of this and worked it into each layer of the painting, building a textured, beautiful backdrop that seeps through the emerald green.
The details of gold paint are a nod to the tradition in Japan to repair broken ceramics with gold so as to highlight and honor the wound.

Earth Spirit
The owner of this beautiful painting has an extensive native american art collection. They asked for a piece that reflected this passion and that would fit in well with their art. I researched some of the tribes he collected work from. While creating this, I was sure to meditate and connect to the earth. It is not visible, but there are many layers of paintings beneath this final one that the person who commissioned it did not resonate with. So, I got feedback and began again until at last we landed on this rich, beautiful custom piece.

The Wisdom in Our Bones
The client for this commission had seen a prior work that she loved and wanted something similar. For this process, I layered red and then blue/green for the under painting. I used modeling paste to create texture and figures on the canvas along with mica for texture and light. The last layer was a white paint wash, a slow process of adding layers and wiping them away to reveal color and figures from beneath.
I called this piece The Wisdom in Our Bones because the woman that commissioned it loves anatomy and wanted the piece to feel like the texture of fossils and bones. I feel this deep connection when I look at this painting.

Revelation
This piece is based off a poem from a client. He wrote this and asked me to paint my interpretation of his words.
Dancing shadows on the wall
Hearing voices but no one is talking at all
Watch as sky and earth collide
Watch as the heavens open up wide
Stopping to hear all that was said
Only to hear prayers whispered instead.

Soul Painting
This is an example of a healing painting that is very focused on capturing the deeper, wise soul of the person I'm working with. We began with an intuitive session in which she described her ancestors and shared photos and objects that resonated with her soul. Then, I did distance energy work with her while creating this piece. I could feel the presence of her ancestors and the vitality in her spirit while I worked on this painting.
It is always an honor working with someone in this way.

Tete-a-tete
This commission is quite unique for me. The person I did this for is a therapist and he wanted the art to be a backdrop to his virtual sessions. He also requested a soothing color palette. With all of this in mind, I painted slowly and methodically and really took my time, I think this piece is a good example of how a person's desired outcome can really dictate the style and feel of a piece.
I called it tete-a-tete to reflect the relational dance and conversation that occurs in therapy.

When Water Dreams
This piece was inspired by another painting of a storm that my client loved, I added my own energy and flow to the concept. This is a good example of me working with a very clear and specific request with my own energetic twist.

Essence Painting
This is the first energy-healing painting I ever made. The person that commissioned it participated quite a bit, coming in for multiple sessions and helping me paint the underlayer. I worked on this for 6 months, some painting require a period of "rest" or "quiet time" as I like to call it. I would often find this painting asking me to let it sit and process, so it took a long time. Visually, you can see the way energy moves and flows and exudes from the canvas. It is a representation of his process and his energy as he works through grief from his childhood.
This painting taught me how to work with someone's energy and what it can mean to channel that onto a canvas.

Deep Inner Knowing
The woman that commissioned this piece was seeking an energetic painting that rooted her into her deep inner wisdom. Together, we worked with her energy and her story to create a piece of art that provided her with this anchor. This painting is a resonant and personal image that helps guide and uplift her when things get difficult. I love the way the image feels like a blend of a tree and a peacock, a beautiful reaching up to the heavens and growing while staying rooted into the earth.
The Blues
This was a traditional commission process. I was given a feeling to capture "the joy of cooking" and colors to work with "blue and red." I also visited the collectors home to get a feel for the other art and colors around this piece. It's very helpful to see the room and design before I begin working on a painting. This is a good example of how simple a commission can be! The playfulness and bright color are captivating.
The Longing Between Worlds
This commission was intended to be a healing energetic process. This man had recently lost his father and was seeking connection to him on the other side. As I painted, the energy felt thick and full of longing and grief. The love of his father came through tenderly. I painted this quite quickly, staying present to his father's energy the whole time and capturing the bond he felt for his son, even after passing.
